Job Shadow

I talked to my job shadow person Mike Moore. He is a professor the University of Wyoming Research Center. He said that his job is in a form of genetic engineering. He said that the job takes place mostly inside so he said I don't need to dress formally or to keep. warm. He said it doesn't really matter what I bring for a lunch but I need to be at the Center at 9 o'clock. He said he'd fill me in on details when I go.

Video Questions

1- what is your opinion of the topic of the video? explain why?

I think that it is fair for people who are higher in status to have information on what is going to happen to the stock market. They have the money, the influence, and the recources, so it's their right to use them as they wish.

2- what can you do about your opinion? How can you make your opinion count?

I really don't know what I can do about my opinion because I don't have the influence of a senator nor the resources. I just believe use what you can when you can if it inproves what happens to YOU.
3-What is insider trading? What was the info that caused Martha Stuart to go to Prison?

Insider trading is when a person trades stocks that belong to a company while knowing what is going to affect the the stocks wheather its in a positive or a negative way. Martha Stuart got the information for insider trading second hand but lied about it and was sent to jail for fraud and conspericy.

4-What is black friday? When did it get its name? What is cyber monday?

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On this day, most major retailers open extremely early, often at 4 a.m., or earlier, and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season, similar to Boxing Day sales in many British Commonwealth countries. Black Friday is not actually a holiday, but most non-retail employers give their employees the day off, increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005, although news reports, which at that time were inaccurate, have described it as the busiest shopping day of the year for a much longer period of time. The day's name originated in Philadelphia, where it originally was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving.  Use of the term started before 1966 and began to see broader use outside Philadelphia around 1975

Cyber Monday is a marketing term for the Monday immediately following Black Friday, the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, created by companies to persuade people to shop online. The term made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a Shop.org press release entitled "'Cyber Monday' Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year".

Candy Trading

We all walked into a small dark room that had two projectors playing some video of the "The Pit" stock trading going on. We were in small groups of like 3 or 4. When we all got in, we were told to get on the ground and collect as much candy as possible. My team of 4 collected as much as we could and made a pile of sweet delight. We were then told that the candy counted as stocks and that each one had it's own value and that they were all going to change in value by the end of the game.

My team had some twix, a load of laffy taffy, 2 pumpkins, 30 gold hershey bars, 13 silver hershey bars, and other kinds of candy. We walked around looking at the price's for each of the different candies. Whenever I was trading I was trying to get a hold of twix or the the pumpkins. Alot of things dropped in value and some things increased in value. In the end, we had more things that had increased in value and less things that decreased.

Occupy Wall Street

The people blaming Wall Street are people who are mostly people with no jobs, home, food, ect. The 53% who say that that they are hard working people who have tried hard to get to were they are seem to be more reasonable than the people who holding riots. The people who are the 53% are people who aren't wasting time yelling at people who wouldn't give a second glance at them. The 53% aren't happy with the way things are, but they are still doing what they can do for themselves compared to the people who are jobless and homeless who are blaming the government for their misfortunes. That is why I support the 53%

Journal 4

Today my YANZHOU COAL MINING stocks had lowered  to $23.60 form the original $24.80. I bought 300 more stocks of it since it was a lower price than when I originaly bought it. When I bought the stocks, the overall price for it went up to %26.60. I looked at it's charts and it has just dropped dramatically from when it was about $41. It has apears to have periods of be low in the 20's and periods of being high in the 20's. Within a 52 week period, I plan to let the price increase to $30.50 at the least before selling.

52 week period

Today the Dow-Jones is down and almost every company. Gold has taken a huge hit in the gut and it's down -$1,451.00 in overall value but i think this is the swing point in the stocks. The swing point is a pattern in the stock system that is used often and can help make good decisions but shouldn't be used on everything. There is two different swing points, a High swing and a Low swing. My stock is currently in the low swing so I'll explain it first. The Low swing is a three day period where a value of a stock lowers. It starts off with the stock loses some of it's value but not a huge amount in a day. The second day the stock lowers even more than it did the day before. This is the time to start buying some of the stocks from this company. Usually the day after the stock will have a slight increase in value that brings it back to a value that is slightly higher than when it began dropping, this is leading to the High swing. The High swing is similar to the Low swing but it has to do with the increasing value of the stock. The first day the stock will have an increase that isn't exacly significant. The second day, the stock has normally had a large increase. This would be the time to sell the stock. You will normally get more money than you spent to buy the stock. On the third day the stock will begin to lower a small amount before it begins the low swing again.. his is the second day that it has lowered. I predict that my gold stock will raise within 2-3 days. I think that my stock will rise from -$1,451.00  to + $100. Currently alot of stocks are in Low swing due to the pattern. In a 52 week period, the stock will go through about 8 Low swings and 8 High swings.

9/11

I've heard on tv and out in the open, "U.S. 1, Bin Laden 0." But I say "U.S. 1, Osama 2. 1 hit on America from Osama, 2 hits in Osama's head from America". The year is 2011 and the war on terrorism is still going. The recent killing of Osama Bin Laden, the man who organized the bombing of The World Trade Center and the attacks on the Pentagon, has left most American's with a sense of renew'd hope and pride of being an American where the scar of fear once was. The terrorist organization of Alkida is still in hiding, and now with the death of their leader, are in jeopardy of being wiped out. The point of the 9/11 bombing was to target our economy and our military leaders. The WTC was the headquarters of many companies and business's and the Pentagon was to weaken the might of our nation. But when an American is hit, we hit back even harder. Here's where the term, 'War against Terrorism' comes into play. The war against terrorism is never going to end. People have a way of bringing back pain and terror into the world due to beliefs and human nature. The war against Alkida is being won, but the most people can do when it comes to the war on terrorism, is merely keep it in check. It's still there and it will return, but we have to make sure that we know what to do when it returns. That is my say on this, 'War on Terrorism'

Stocks

There is one thing that I know about stocks. The better the company is doing, the more money you make. I only know to buy stocks when the stalk market has lowered prices for their stocks.Other than that, stocks is like trying to understand a language I've never heard before.
